MDF Bat System – Use and Drying

Although MDF is an excellent material for use as a bat on an electric pottery wheel, it can warp if it remains damp for too long.

It is therefore important to remove your work as soon as the clay reaches the leather-hard stage. Allow the MDF bat to dry thoroughly afterwards.

Should the bat warp despite these precautions, it can easily be flattened again by placing a weight on it, such as a bag of clay.

Tip: Allow the bat to dry upright, standing on its edge.
